2014 OSP Best Practices Award Winner
The 2014 OSP Best Practices Award goes to Wheelersburg Local School District for their innovative approach to risk management and their dedication to school safety.
Through the efforts of Darin Porter, Wheelersburg has been piloting Facilities Maintenance Express (FMX), an online tool that tracks all maintenance operations throughout the district, as well as schedules and accounts for equipment and staff resources. It is easy to use and can be accessed through any mobile device. Greg Hennecke, OSP risk manager for Wheelersburg, stated "the documentation features of the FMX program are outstanding and a dream come true from a risk management and liability insurance perspective."
Wheelersburg also worked with the State Fire Marshal's office to approve additional locking mechanisms for each classroom, as well as implemented an online emergency response system to maximize their safety and response to an active shooter situation.
We commend Wheelersburg Local School District for their proactive risk management practices and congratulate them as the Ohio School Plan's 2014 Best Practice Award winner.
