2020 Auto Liability Premium Return
As we learned on April 20, 2020, Ohio's schools will remain closed to in-person student learning for the remainder of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This ever-changing environment has changed the way we educate and provide services to our students as they learn to adapt to this new normal. I commend our members across the state for their hard work and dedication to providing the best remote learning experience possible.
On April 21, 2020, the Ohio School Plan board met as part of our regularly scheduled board meeting, and as you can imagine, COVID-19 was part of our discussion. With school doors closed, extracurricular activities canceled, and usage of school vehicles virtually halted - what does this mean for our members and their auto liability exposure?
Following some discussion, the board unanimously approved a partial return of our members' 2019-2020 auto liability premium related to Governor DeWine's school closure date of March 16, 2020. We recognize that the automobile liability exposure has changed significantly and that returning a portion of these premiums to Ohio School Plan members is the right thing to do.
We are working on the calculations for the return premiums and will issue checks once this is complete to each member that is due a return. On behalf of the board of directors, I thank you for your support of the Ohio School Plan and want you to know that we are all in this together.
Stay safe and stay healthy.
